Qi (Harry) Zhang, Ph.D., is Associate Professor in the School of Community and Environmental Health at Old Dominion University, Virginia, USA. His research focuses on health disparities in low-income and other vulnerable populations in the U.S. and China. He has developed the expertise of multidisciplinary research methods, including behavioral economics, health economics, qualitative studies, and systems models. He has been the PI on numerous projects funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH), the US Department of Agriculture and Duke-UNC-USDA Center for Behavioral Economics and Healthy Food Choice Research (BECR Center). His research has been published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, Health Services Research, and Annals of Internal Medicine. He served as the President of China Health Policy and Management Society (CHPAMS) 2014-2016 and the Director of the Board of Chinese Economists Society (2014-2015). He is currently on the editorial board of six international journals and on the scientific committee of International Health Economics Association (iHEA).
Behavioral economics is emerging as a new frontier in economics. This talk introduces key topics in behavioral economics, including prospect theory, bounded rationality and dual system theory with their applications in business and public health. To reduce the behavioral barriers for attendants, interesting observations and case studies will be presented with the theories. No prerequisite is needed to enjoy this talk.
